Springer Wins His 400th Game
Springer became the 26th coach all-time to win 400 games
Mt. San Jacinto coach Patrick Springer, a future hall of famer, edged a hall of fame coach to win his 400th career game when the Eagles rallied to defeated Phil Mathews and his Tigers, 55-48. Springer, who is in his 16th season at MSJC and his 20th as a head coach, spent three seasons at College of the Desert and one at City College of San Francisco. Of his 400 career wins, 330 have come at MSJC. In his 16 season at MSJC, Springer has compiled a record of 330-148, and is 400-209 in his career as a community college head coach. Springer's team's have won 20 or more win seasons 13 times and have reached the CCCAA playoffs each season.
The Eagles had to rally from a 31-22 halftime deficit to deliver Springer the victory at home. In the second half, the Eagles, who have struggled this season after beginning the season ranked No. 7, outscored the Tigers, 33-17.
Springer became the 26th coach all-time to win 400 games. Former San Jose City College coach Perry Carr is the all-time win leader with 901 victories.
