No. 5 Tartars Rebound with 96-84 Win over LA Harbor in Coaches vs. Cancer Game

Compton, Calif. – Sophomore DaJion Henderson scored a career-high 23 points to lead the No. 5 El Camino College Compton Center men's basketball team (23-4, 6-1) to a 96-84 win over LA Harbor (9-15, 3 -4) on Wednesday evening.

As the Coaches vs. Cancer game, the Tartars sported blue and yellow socks in the game – blue for prostate cancer awareness and yellow in honor of former Tartar, Carthal McDonald, who passed away in October from synovial sarcoma.

ECC Compton Center trailed going into the locker room at the 42-36 mark, but the trio of Henderson and sophomores Kyvonte Davis and Jayvon Brown combined for 36 of the team's 60 second-half points. The team capitalized on LA Harbor's 12 second-half turnovers, converting them to 24 points on the board.

After the 10th and final tie score of the game at 70 each with 8:29 remaining, Davis started the scoring for the Tartars with a layup to give the team the go-ahead lead. ECC Compton Center closed out the game on an 11-5 run with Henderson scoring over half of the final points.
